Dave DeBlanc, now Vice President of Corporate Accounts, previously held the title of Vice President of Sales, West. Jason Walton – Vice President of Field Sales

Jason Walton has been promoted to Vice President of Field Sales, where he’ll lead our Betco and Basic Coatings field sales teams nationwide. Known for his strategic vision and a strong track record in driving sales growth, Jason has played a key role in advancing Betco’s sales initiatives, and we’re eager to see how his leadership will enhance our field sales operations.

John Guzik – Director of Sales, West

Now Director of Sales, West, John Guzik takes on an expanded role overseeing sales efforts west of the Rocky Mountains. In his previous position as Regional Sales Director, John achieved substantial growth and success, demonstrating his ability to drive results. We look forward to the continued impact of his leadership in this larger territory.

We are pleased to announce that Blake Stephenson has been hired as the Facilities Solutions Specialist for northern Ohio, Indiana, and southern Michigan. In this role, Blake will provide training to distributors and end users, conduct demonstrations in the field, install and service products, and assist direct service representatives in the region. We are pleased to announce that Russ Pjetrovic has been hired on as the Regional Sales Director for New York. In his role, Russ will develop new distribution channels and grow relationships with existing distributors in the New York metro market. He will also assist direct sales representatives in helping customers by conducting product demonstrations and supporting the sales process in a collaborative, hands-on approach.

Russ brings more than 19 years of experience in the janitorial and sanitation industry, with experience at a major chemical manufacturer and at a manufacturing company that specializes in skin care. We are excited to see how his background will benefit him in his role at Betco^® and further strengthen our team.

Russ resides in northern New Jersey, just outside of New York City. In his free time, he enjoys spending time in nature at his country vacation home, playing basketball, and swimming. One of his favorite yearly experiences is traveling back home to Montenegro.

Brian Schuster has transitioned from Vice President of Sales, East, to Vice President of Business Development on the Betco^® Sales Team. In his new role, Brian will focus on driving growth and strengthening collaboration across all sales divisions. His responsibilities include identifying and developing leads for key accounts, enhancing pipeline management, and implementing strategies to improve margin.

Brian will also work closely with various teams to streamline sales processes, foster strategic partnerships, and support customer service initiatives that drive revenue growth and operational efficiency. His leadership will be crucial in aligning the business with its long-term goals and expanding our market presence.

For the past 5 years, Brian has been an essential part of Betco’s Sales Team. His industry knowledge and strong customer relationships have made him an invaluable asset. We are excited for him to take on his new role in Business Development and are confident that he will continue to lead his team to success.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has again declared mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, a Public Health Emergency of International Concern due to the upsurge of cases across both endemic and non-endemic countries.

Endemic countries have previously had mpox outbreaks reported, including West African countries such as Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Cameroon. These countries are affected by 2 variants of mpox: Clade I and Clade II. Clade I is the more severe variant, prompting the public health emergency designation. Clade II has milder symptoms yet is still endemic to West Africa.

While the viral outbreak has mainly affected Africa, Clade II continues to spread to non-endemic countries that have not historically reported cases of mpox. Sweden and Canada, for example, have reported cases, with Sweden confirming one on August 15 linked to travel to Africa, according to the WHO. Canada has confirmed cases only of the Clade II variant. There are no known cases in the US currently.

Mpox Transmission

Mpox is transmitted through contaminated objects like linens or needles, close physical contact and/or respiratory circulation near someone with mpox, or through infected animals. mpox mainly spreads through direct contact with a person who has contracted the virus.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends cleaning and disinfecting in the following order to minimize spreading the virus.

1. Collect and throw away general waste, such as bandages, paper towels, food packaging, and other general trash items
2. Laundry
3. Hard surfaces
4. Soft Surfaces
5. Carpet and flooring
6. Throw away waste generated from cleaning and disinfecting (such as disinfectant wipes)
7. Wash your hands

Mpox Disinfectants

10 Betco disinfectant products are recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency for use against mpox and can be found on their List Q Disinfectants for Emerging Viral Pathogens:

These disinfectants have demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to mpox on hard, non-porous surfaces. Therefore, they can be used against the mpox virus when used per the directions on the product label.

A Note on Bleach (Sodium Hypochlorite)

It is a common belief that bleach is the ultimate disinfectant. This is one of many disinfecting myths, for reasons that include:

• Bleach must be applied to a pre-cleaned surface for it to function properly as a disinfectant or sanitizer.
• Disinfecting and sanitizing with bleach is a two-step process.
• Bleach has an unstable shelf life that depends on its age and storage conditions.
• The amount of active chlorine in bleach varies by product.
• Sodium hypochlorite (bleach) breaks down into salt and water, so bleach should never be stored in warm areas.
• A fresh bleach solution should be prepared before disinfection or sanitization.
• Water hardness and soil contaminants from a dirty container can negatively impact the available chlorine ppm levels.

We are making a significant enhancement to our Lotion Hand, Hair, and Body Shampoo formula to improve user experience, increase unisex appeal, and improve placement potential in both men’s and women’s locker rooms:

• The fragrance will shift from a fresh floral scent to a new, preferred mandarin grapefruit scent.
• The color will change from dark blue to peach.
• The label colors on the packaging will change from teal to peach to align with the new formula’s look.
• The new formula will continue to be gentle on skin and hair, leaving it delicate, soft, and conditioned. It will not cause dryness or irritation.

Despite the newly updated formula, Lotion Hand, Hair, and Body Shampoo in gallons (77304-00), Clario^® (77329-00), drums (77355-00), and Triton bottles (77362-00) will maintain the same SKUs for seamless transition. This rolling change requires no action from our customers. As current stock depletes, the new formula will flow into distribution beginning in June.
