  • Betco® Closes on Novozymes® Wastewater Business Unit Assets

    Jan 31, 2023

We are proud to announce that Betco® has closed on certain wastewater business assets from Novozymes® * A/S, acquiring full ownership of the unit on January 31. Novozymes is the largest provider of biological solutions and enzyme and microbial technologies to improve industrial performance while preserving the planet's resources and helping build better lives.

"This acquisition has established EnviroZyme as the number one provider in the wastewater and bioaugmentation industry."

EnviroZyme®, a fully owned subsidiary of Betco acquired in 2010, is a top manufacturer of bacteria-based treatment solutions for a variety of environmental, water, and waste treatment applications, complete with downstream packaging solutions and fermentation capabilities in an FDA-registered, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. By integrating these assets from Novozymes into EnviroZyme's overall portfolio, it has allowed us to broaden our bioaugmentation offerings and global footprint beyond those of any other business in the wastewater space.

"This has been a historic venture for the EnviroZyme business," Brad Betz, President and Chief Executive Officer, said. "We are thrilled with how this acquisition has established EnviroZyme as the number one provider in the wastewater and bioaugmentation industry  by fleshing out our breadth of line with these new wastewater business assets and widening our customer base around the world."

With the close of this transaction, EnviroZyme delivers an expanded product lineup and superior technical service capabilities to their diverse and global range of customers. Our team has worked hard to ensure the transition goes smoothly for current and new customers.

"We would like to thank the Novozymes team for their professionalism throughout and our various partners who provided assistance during the process," Toby Jercovich, Chief Financial Officer, said. "We welcome all the former Novozymes customers to the EnviroZyme family and look forward to delivering exceptional service and solutions to them."

  • Betco® Launches New Probiotic Cleaning Program and Products

    Oct 7, 2022
    EnviroZyme Probiotic Solutions logo

Betco® announced a partnership with a top manufacturer of biological technologies and fully owned subsidiary EnviroZyme® to launch EnviroZyme Probiotic Solutions. This new probiotic cleaning program replaces harsh, traditional cleaning chemicals with natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable formulas that are better for people and the planet. Betco’s current BioActive Solutions program will transition into EnviroZyme Probiotic Solutions.

Betco is the only chemical manufacturer in the world to ferment its own beneficial bacteria to produce targeted probiotic cleaning solutions in liquid, solid, and powder forms. From a state-of-the-art facility on Betco’s campus, teams of biologists and chemists control every process from seed to finished product, allowing them to specialize in market-driven solutions for superior performance.

“Using bacterial strains grown in EnviroZyme’s advanced fermentation plant, this new program incorporates different strains for targeted applications,” Barry Rosenthal, Senior Product Manager, said. “EnviroZyme Probiotic Solutions use renewable resources, paving the way for the future of cleaning.”

As a cleaning technology, probiotics are a type of bacteria that remove all organic soils and tackle odors through consumption until there is no more waste in food service, industrial, restroom, and other environments. Betco can carefully select strains based on their efficacy against specific soils from their full technical lab with best-in-class equipment. Their formulas include proprietary nutrient packages to boost probiotic growth. As proven in testing, probiotics grown by Betco work for 21 days after initial application and continue to work until there are no organic soils left, resulting in labor savings, downstream benefits, and a long-lasting clean.

Long Betco’s flagship product in the category, Push® continues to be a staple multi-purpose microbial cleaner and is now available in Classic Mint, Lemon & Sage, and Mango fragrances. There are also 5 existing products for floors, garbage disposals, and degreasing, and 4 brand-new products for urinals, dumpsters, grease traps, and drains.

In conjunction, Betco is also introducing a distributor Buy-In and Spiff Incentive Program for EnviroZyme Probiotic Solutions products. Among other perks, distributors receive special pricing based on the buy-in purchase amount, and distributor sales reps earn money for all products sold. Additionally, distributors will work closely with Betco representatives to become Certified Probiotics Experts through tiered training opportunities. Click here to learn more.

“As the commercial cleaning industry trends towards green cleaning, conventional products formulated with harsh chemicals are no longer the only answer for the removal of tough fat, oil, grease, and petroleum soils,” Barrett Betz, Vice President of Marketing, said. “EnviroZyme Probiotic Solutions are proven to solve the biggest challenges posed by the cleaning industry in the most sustainable way possible, thanks to probiotics.”

  • 10 EPA-Approved Betco® Disinfectants for Use Against Monkeypox

    Jun 2, 2022
    Monkeypox virus bacteria

Note this information may be outdated. Click here to read our most recent news post regarding Monkeypox.

The Monkeypox virus dates back to 1958, when the pox-like disease occurred in colonies of monkeys kept for research. Transmission of the virus happens when a person comes into contact with the virus from an animal, human, or materials that are contaminated with Monkeypox. Human transmission occurs primarily through large respiratory droplets or indirect contact through clothing or linens.

Today, Monkeypox cases are being investigated in several European countries, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada. There are 13 suspected cases in Canada, and 1 confirmed case in Massachusetts, United States. Monkeypox is most common in Central and West Africa and is considered to be rare outside of these regions. Ongoing investigations are trying to determine the cause of the spread.

The EPA has recently added the Monkeypox virus to their emerging viral pathogen policy. A virus is added to this policy when there is no EPA-approved protocol set in place. Under this policy, there are 10 Betco disinfectant products recommended by the EPA’s List Q Disinfectants for Emerging Viral Pathogens for use against Monkeypox:

These disinfectants have demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to Monkeypox on hard, non-porous surfaces. Therefore, they can be used against the Monkeypox virus when used per the directions on the product label.

In addition to cleaning and disinfecting hard, non-porous surfaces to reduce the spread of Monkeypox, the EPA also recommends the following prevention methods:

    • Practice proper hand hygiene.
    • Launder infected clothing, bedding, and towels in warm water. Bleach may be added but is not necessary.
    • Infected dishes or eating utensils should be isolated and washed separately in a dishwasher or by hand with warm water and soap.

For more information about Monkeypox, click here. To get in touch with a Betco® representative, click here.
