16 ORBITAL PADS AND ORBITAL FINISH REMOVAL STANDARD CLEANING OPERATIONS NOTE: Do NOT lower the Orbital Scrub Head without a pad attached. This will damage the scrub head. 1. Attach the pad ½” in front of the scrub head and align the front corners and sides. Press the pad into position once the pad is aligned (the ½” forwarding will help in pad wetting). 2. Lower the scrub deck onto the floor once the pad is aligned. 3. Check to make sure the pad is aligned on all four sides. ORBITAL FINISH REMOVAL PAD SETUP Finish removal utilizes a two-pad setup. A red or white pad acts as a “backer pad” that helps compensate for flaws and variances in the floor. The maroon pad is for surface preparation. 1. Attach the red pad to the orbital pad drive plate as shown above. 2. Wet the maroon pad prior to installation to minimize excessive friction upon initial start up. 3. Place the maroon pad on the floor and position it so that when the scrub deck is lowered the red and maroon pads are aligned and stacked. MACHINE SETUP FOR ORBITAL FINISH REMOVAL 1. Fill the solution tank with clean water. 2. Install the pad assembly as described above. 3. The down pressure should be on medium or high pressure; depending on condition or hardness of the finish being removed. 4. The solution flow rate should be set to a low flow rate (approximately 25% of full flow rate) for this operation to maximize finish removal, to rinse, clean the floor and pad. 5. Forward speed should be set to 25% to 50% of normal speed to ensure maximum finish removal ; approximately 50-100 feet per minute.
